THE "STOP READY MEALS" CAMPAIGN IS THREE YEARS OLD! THREE YEARS IGNORED BY THE MEDIA (The profession with one of the highest consumption rates of Ready Meals). But Channel 5 news had the courage to take on the big supermarkets after Dirk Budka and his associates exposed some of the many dangers in "Ready Meals".

One year ago, the DAILY MAIL showed interest to publish some information based on our research. But they withdrew their interest after finding out, that it might be difficult to take on the big supermarkets and food-giants.

Food Gurus And Health Practitioners ... Where Has The Responsibilty Gone? PART I

Gillian McKeith… the Food Doctor… you name them. It seems that – once they have discovered the way how to make a lot of money by releasing their “one-fits-all-books/advice” and their questionable products - they have lost it.
A responsible medial practitioner works for his/her patients, maybe writes for scientific papers and does additional research OR he/she walks down the “one-fits-all" path. Doing both does not work… sorry.

One example: Gillian McKeith and her “24-hour-detox”. The liver is a chemical factory and to clean this factory will take time. To call a supplement “24-hour-detox” is irresponsible and mabe even dangerous (Example, Patient’s quote: “I booze and eat loads of burgers on Monday, Tuesday I do the 24 hour detox and Wednesday… well Wednesday will be another Monday and Thursday another Tuesday.” (unquote)

Another example: The ‘Food Doctor’ has created a range of ready-to-eat-meals for Waitrose. Britons eat more ready meals than the rest of Europe put together and a responsible nutritionist should discourage his/her clients/customers and not encourage them to eat more of this stuff. And by the way… no matter how good and how ‘healthy’ the ingredients are… for many allergy/intolerance sufferers and patients with gastrointestinal problems like IBS, natural chemicals in foods with extended shelf life/precooked foods are more than tricky... and there are bacteria which survive and therefore multiplicate in very cold/hot temperatures or in an anaerobic environment.

It seems to me like an interesting method to create new patients.
And what about wrapping, soft plastic, recycling?...

And they all give general advice in newspapers/magazines and once criticised for something they wrote, the reply is that their article was edited and that they had no influence on the changes made. (like Natalie Savona in the Holland & Barrett magazine HEALTHY when writing about the wonder-food SOY without one mentioning of the dangers of soy.) Does this mean these food advisers do not even have 100% control of what they are writing and that they do not care as long as they receive their money and/or publicity?
Ah yes… and they always have the strong point “at least we raise the awareness of the public to be more interested in healthy food”… Nonsense… 69% of Britons are still confused about which foods are healthy (Joanna Blythman)… and this figure is rising.

Britian is still “Bad Food Britain” and what are these so called health advocates doing to change it? Their more or less celebrity or at least 'being-well-known-status' gives them the opportunity to change things for the good... What a missed chance!

PS 1: The image on top of the page shows the Campylobacter jejuni, bacteria which love to live and multiply in ready-to-eat-meals. The bacteria have already overtaken the dangerous Listeria monocytogenes which causes Listeriosis mainly in immunodeficient humans... esp. pregnant women who will pass Listeriosis to their unborn child. All responsible health practitioners warn pregnant women not to consume ready-to-eat-meals.
