IN THE NEWS: "High Street food allergy tests mislead consumers"

COMMENT:
Yes, all these tests are misleading and rubbish! And I believe it is no surprise that Holland & Barrett offers these "joke-sessions", which they call "tests"
I see the victims of these absurd and crazy tests every day!
It is about time to stop this nonsense once and for all. For these "practitioners" every patient has problems with wheat and dairy (The bad guys of the century :-)... and of course yeast.
Every serious medical practitioner and medical scientists knows that only an IgE test can determine a 'classical' allergy.
Quacks und weekend practitioners are making a lot of money with the fears and food obsession of patients.
And York? IgG? Even accepted by Allergy UK? (There have been more serious in the past anyway)... I remember the case where a friend did send three samples to York laboratories... under three different names...
now guess... RIGHT! Three completely different resultPlease, dear patient: Think! If a VEGA or BICOM or whatever machine can really tests for certain yeasts and bacteria in the intestines… or hundreds of food-sensitivities, it would be a world sensation... This machine would probably cost a couple of million pounds... and not just 400 or so...
I had my independent lab and clinic under the roof of the Hale Clinic…and what I saw and experienced there is unbelievable! Amazing, how many people are willing to believe even the most utterly nonsense… Sending electric currents via copper plates through your body... Please... I can see the (none-existent) yeasts and bacteria laughing themselves to death.
Peter Smith of the Hale Clinic and his Pseudo Allergies :-) There is a medical definition for Pseudo-Allergies, like Histaminosis or Tyraminosis... these are complicated diseases and definitely not "weekly changing allergies"...
THE GUT IS OUR "SECOND BRAIN" - Information on IBS
Picture:Blood agar and bicarbonate agar plate cultures of Bacillus cereus, a bacteria (often in rice) that causes food poisoning which then leads to long term IBS related symptoms
COLONIC IRRIGATION/HYDROTHERAPY... A DANGER TO IBS-PATIENTS? To read more go to the page "DANGERS TO THE GUT?"
This extract of a study to be published in Summer 2010 is based on several patients who felt extremely ill and needed medical attention after having colonic irrigation at London's 1st address for this questionable therapy, the Hale Clinic.
DIRK BUDKA, HEAD OF THE ADVANVED INTEGRATED MEDICINE COLLABORATIONS AND HIS TEAM OF DOCTORS, QUALIFIED PRACTITIONERS and LASER THERAPISTS ARE OFFERING NEW APPROACHES
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is not a clear or straight forward diagnosis. Very often it is used as an excuse for " I don't know what it is, so let's call it IBS"
Patients do feel let down by their general practitioner or even by the specialist Gastroenterologist and then turn to alternative medicine. What happens? They just change the frying pan! Instead of "You have IBS, have less stress and eat five portions of fruit and vegetable each day they hear:"You have Candida or avoid wheat and dairy or you have parasites or you should have colonic irrigation." And then the patients are put on horrible long-term exclusion diets and have to buy tons of supplements.
WRONG!
Just to give you some ideas for new approaches:
- IBS can be PFPS (Post Food Poisoning Poisoning), sometimes referred to as PI-IBS (post-infectious IBS)
- IBS can be a mild or severe histamine intolerance, sometimes referred to as Enteral Histaminosis and/or Cellular Histaminosis. To read about histamine intolerance CLICK HERE
- IBS can be SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), sometimes referred to as SBBO (Small Bowel Bacterial Overgrowth) which can be treated with none-broad spectrum (target) antibiotics and diet. To read more about the Bacteria Clinic London CLICK HERE
- IBS can be a result of a previous viral infection by e.g. Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), HHV6 (Human Herpes Virus), or Cytomegalovirus (CMV). To read more about Viruses and your immune system and the Immune Clinic London CLICK HERE.
We offer all appropriate tests! To read more about all tests and MSML laboratory CLICK HERE.
- For stool analysis, virus detection, etc. we use PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and RT-PCR.
- For Intestinal Transit Time, Malabsorption, Lactose, Fructose, Sucrose, Sorbitol Intolerances and SIBO we use the Hydrogen H2 and Methane breath tests.
(Very often a stool sample is NOT the most relevant tool, when the problem is in the SMALL intestines and not in the large/bowel.)
- Our blood tests look also specifically for Diaminoxidase (DAO), Histamines, other Biogenic Amines, Vitamines, Minerals and IgE mediated allergies. If a real IgE mediated allergy is suspected, we refer to a top specialist for Allergology in Surrey.
- We work very closely with top gastroenterologists in London
What we do NOT do, because we believe it is either irrelevant or even nonsense:
- Diagnosis without tests
- Treatment without Diagnosis
- Kinesiology
- Life Blood Analysis
- Vega, BiCom and other "you-name-it" machines
- IgG tests (like York Test etc.)
Our treatments range from prescription drugs to herbs, diets and systemic and none-systemic laser treatment (photobiostimulation). To read more about the Laser Clinic London CLICK HERE

**We are the experts in histamine intolerance/histaminosis, salicylic acid, reactions to Biogenic Amines (tyramines, putrescines, histamines, cadaverines, etc.) and the ONLY laboratory which can test for Histamine Intolerance (measuring Diamineoxidase, DAO activity)
# We do comprehensive tests for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and we are the only clinic who uses systemic laser therapy to treat CFS
The intestines have the highest concentration of nerve cells in the body, besides the brain. This Enteric Nervous System (ENS) contains between 70 and 85% of the body’s immune cells. It is a so called data processing centre which handles complicated pathways of neurons, neuromodulators and neurotransmitters. There is constant communication between the brain and the gut particularly through nerve cells using serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is also very important for mood regulation. 1000 – 2000 nerve fibres connect both brains and enable the two to talk. When one gets upset, the other one does too.
In the past, many gut diseases were classified as psychosomatic. We now know that this is rarely the case. There is an element of the brain controlling the gut, but there is also an organic and physiological basis for the functional changes of the "little brain".
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which is just an umbrella term for unidentified gut problems and is often used as just a different expression for "I don't know what your problem is... so let's call it IBS..."

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition. It might affect up to one third of the population. It is difficult to have exact figures because of three reasons:
-
only 10 – 20% of people with IBS-like symptoms visit a doctor
-
it is extremely difficult to diagnose
-
conventional treatment (specific medication) is not available, because the patient has NOT being diagnosed properly.
There are many diagnoses available for: diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, spasms, bloating, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, urge to open the bowels, anxiety if no toilet is nearby, sharp pains, feeling of incomplete evacuation, etc... and of course it is not always Irritable Bowel Syndrome or an IBS related symptom.
When you visit your GP, the first diagnosis is often “stress” or "unhealthy eating habits", before you might be referred to a gastro-intestinal specialist.
The first consultations can be very critical. And in health systems, where a doctor has just several minutes time for a patient, ...where there is no ‘relationship’ between doctor and patient, it is nearly impossible to expect:
- a clear explanation of the possible mechanisms for the symptoms,
- a full lifestyle check including all possible psychological factors,
- a reassurance and explanation of fears of serious organic diseases,
- correct dietary/nutritional advice.
If the diagnosis is not 100% right, IBS treatment is extremely difficult.

Dirk Budka's "Ready Meal Research" on Channel 5, Monday 18th August at 12.30, 17.00 and 19.00h
Dirk Budka and his associates analysed for Channel 5 six different "Ready Meals" from four major UK supermarkets. Some might find the outcome shocking - we believe it is not unexpected: high levels of Bacteria and very high levels of Histamines. Details and comments regarding ready meals and this specific studies will be on this website from Tuesday, 19th August.
Here is a little extract:
The level for histamines in fish (there is NO rule/law for the amount of histamines in meat and other foods) is 200mg/kg. This a shocking level, because good quality fish contain less than 10 mg/kg histamine, a level of 30 mg/kg indicates already significant deteriation. We found levels of 185mg/kg and 450(!)mg/kg. How long will authorities and the Food Standard Agency (FSA) tolerate these limits? The incidents of reactions are on the increase, because approx. 5-10 % of the population suffer from histamine intolerance. To see the Channel 5 pls go to http://news.five.tv/news.php?news=869
